A view of the field

by on June 10, 2015

runner beansThe sweetcorn is planted; the radish pods are developing nicely so start thinking of recipes for them; the runner beans are out of the poly tunnels and into the ground. The herb buckets are outside near the dome.

It’s very dry – not helped by a very windy last weekend – and Ian is seriously considering watering.

The high winds at the weekend haven’t helped growing – again the protection was lifted from the brassicas allowing the wildlife to have a bit of a feast before order was restored. Wind, partridge and pigeons have also not helped some of the pea crops but they are hanging in there and many will recover.

But the really excellent news is that Bridget’s bees have been hard at work on the broad bean flowers which are now starting to form into broad beans! Hurrah!
