With the invaluable help of master bee keeper, Dorian and experienced bee keeper (and work share member) Rob I’ve got a proper look at the bees! We took both hives apart and did a full health check!
Dorian says there are lots of bees that are very calm, good bees. Both hives have a queen, we found and marked one of them. The bees are basically a native strain with a few ‘ginger bandits’!
There’s lots more work to be done but the hives are reasonably strong. I got some great advice and feel like I got an individual master class in bee keeping!
