Out in the fields – field report

cabbagesThe squash bed is prepared but a little warmer weather is needed so that they can be hardened off before they are planted out in the field.

This week is brassica week with trays of different sorts in the working poly tunnel in need of pricking out into modules of 4 to grow a little more sturdy before going out into the big wide world. It looks as if the germination has been good there then.

The grey, cool and dry weather has slowed down the various sorts of beans. Sun and rain would be good then.

It looks as if the carrot crop has failed due to the dry weather but to the surprise of Ian the parsnips are growing. The radish seeds are not yet setting so this is something that may not appear in the crop shares.

A mixed week then.
