Quiet times outside

broad beansThe frost is helping the ground to dry which is all to the good after this extremely wet winter.

Ploughing is planned for next week. Ian is waiting for ten tonnes of well rotted manure to arrive – wonder if this will make him a champion muck spreader.

Work has started on the ground where main crop potatoes are going to be planted.

This year it is hoped that most of the hard work can be done with the tractor and attachments with weed membrane laid to help to defeat the weeds.

The first of the broad beans are peeking through in cells in one of the poly tunnels – not yet ready to be hardened off and planted out of course but at least first signs of crops to go out in the fields. It might soon really feel like spring.
