Very busy in the poly tunnels

by on May 15, 2016

beetrootBeetroot has been sown along with runner beans and more French beans. I’m also certain I spotted butternut squashes just starting out as well. At least there were trays of seedlings marked “Squash Hunter”  when I read the labels an in my world those are butternut squash.

There are French beans growing in the bottom poly tunnel in the ground and chilli peppers ready to go in as well as soon as there are free hands.

The plum tomatoes suddenly grew with the heatwave this last week and have been planted in the poly tunnel before they jumped out of their smaller pots! Ian has contingency plans in place for two of the three poly tunnels with the sudden change in weekend temperature as we don’t want to be suddenly going down to on or below freezing.

There are a good variety of herbs to go in this week – chervil, dill and parsley. Sadly the sowings of basil and coriander seem to have failed.
