Go Local Food has stoats and weasels around the fields – it can be hard to tell one from the other at a quick glance mind you but we do have both we think.
We also have rodents (mice or rats) digging in the soft soil in the poly tunnel where the peppers are growing. These could be food sources for the stoats and weasels.
There are still hares about – probably more than one mother and her leverets. However the youngsters should soon be old enough to be on their way as adults and not trouble us any more. It appears that the agile hares can jump the rabbit proof fencing.
There are also many rabbits but this situation may cure itself as we think that there is myxomatosis in the area.
