Ian says he has turned up many voles’ nest as he has been clearing and tidying. At least voles are good news in the wild life scale of things as they are food for owls and some other birds of prey.
Rats are looking to make homes in the poly tunnels – they seem to be sneaking out of the compost heap which is supposed to be for mares’ tail and other noxious weeds which don’t rot down well. We won’t mention that the theory of this particular compost heap isn’t actually working as it seems to have gained good compostable material that should be elsewhere.
Moles are also looking for shelter in the poly tunnels. The pigeons are looking for food as things seem to be getting sparse elsewhere.
