Go Local Food still has wild life!

bullfinchesIan has been supervised working on the shed by a group of bullfinches. New sight on the fields – well recently anyway. They are a great nibbler of buds on trees and flower buds in the garden. Let’s hope they are not another member of the wild life wanting a share of our crops – thinks strawberries.

The recent high winds blew the netting off the English kale despite our great efforts to fix it down. As a result the pigeons are full of our kale and we have none. Boohoo.

We have had to leave the gates open to the top field so that the farmer can come in to plough the field and to then spread the muck over it as we don’t have a definite date for his time yet. So we have rabbits. Not to leave the poly tunnels open then.
