It’s not been a bad winter

wrenAn unusual sight was a little wren bobbing along the Go Local Food field fences in the sun on Friday.

On the other hand, it’s not been cold enough this winter to solve the problem of slugs – we still have far too many, I heard them counted in millions. A really cold winter reduces the numbers.

Of course we still have far too many hungry pigeons looking to eat anything that we have growing.

And to all accounts there are still traces of voles around. When Halls of Heddon were clearing the borders on the way in to Go Local Food fields ready for spring recently, they found plenty of signs of voles too.
