The Growing Gang

What is the Growing Gang?
The Growing Gang is part of our community outreach programme funded through the Big Lottery Awards for All grants.

Up on our field next to Halls of Heddon Ovington Nurseries, a special plot has been designated just for children and young people to develop their own growing space. We have a special event on the last Saturday of the month. We do a variety of activities including crafts, planting and finding out more about our environment.

Upcoming events
Our next event is Saturday 29th April 1-3 pm where we will be clearing the space to help Ian (our professional grower) to get the soil ready for planting. There will also be some wildlife tasks and challenges and we will be painting pots…another busy session!

For any of our events, you don’t have to book, just come up to the Go Local Field and all you need to bring with you is a grown up, your wellies or strong shoes, clothes that you don’t mind getting muddy and a warm coat/fleece in case it’s a bit cold.

If you are a school or a youth project and would like to organise a visit we would love to hear from you! All of our Growing Gang events and activities are FREE to attend.
