The good news this week

Crop Share by Walter LewisWeekly crop shares for 2017 are now being gathered completely from the Go Local Food fields although the hungry gap in the growing cycle is not completely over. Further south the hungry gap will be overtaken by crops coming out of the UK fields by May but as we come further north this period can extend well into June.

It just shows that the warmer weather has allowed us to get outside crops ready for picking sooner than we might have expected.

Mind you the heat and humidity has affected radish, turnip and lettuce (they aren’t happy at all) whilst it has been excellent for tomatoes, basil and coriander.

Such is the life of the grower. It’s too hot, too cold, too wet, too dry …
