The butterfly season

red admiral butterflyIt must be summer! The butterflies are back. Red Admiral, Peacock and Cabbage White are all to be seen around the Go Local Food fields.  Which means that all the brassicas need defending from these very attractive pests.

We have also had an unusual visitor which could have been a longhorn sedge but a picture isn’t available so we can’t ask our readers for more information. Seems that this is usually used by fishermen as a lure on their lines.

Well these make a change from rabbits and pigeons and are a lot more attractive even if some of them love our cabbages just as much.
