At Go Local Food, Ovington next to Halls of Heddon Friday 21st 2.30 – 4.30 pm and Saturday 22nd July 10.30 am – 12.30 pm
From Saturday 8th July – Saturday 26th August, Queen’s Hall Arts in Hexham is showing an exhibition called #FEED. #FEED is a group show of artists whose natural curiosity about the world has led them to become engaged in lively technologies like bio hacking, permaculture and agriculture. The basic theme that brings all the work and artists in this show together is ‘Food’.
One of the artists in the exhibition, Wojtek Mejor, is an independent educator, organizer and activist living in Warsaw, Poland. He’s involved in food activism, community supported agriculture and the co-operative movement. Currently he’s researching degrowth at the Warsaw University and holding workshops on a variety of themes including art, cooperativism, organising, DIY and is a member of Dobrze Food Coop.
Wojtek is going to be in the North East for 3 days and and will be running workshops at Go Local Food on Friday 21st and Saturday 22nd July. The workshops will be a chance for you to take inspiration from your surroundings to build game sets or see how to use game design to shape your environment. Participants will design board games, talk about food ownership, local food supply chains and how to reshape your neighbourhood to best suit the needs of the local community.
The workshops will run from 2.30 – 4.30 pm on Friday 21st July and from 10.30 am – 12.30 pm on Saturday 22nd July . Why not come for the workshop and collect your crop share at the same time? Wojtek will be helping with the harvest on the morning of Friday 21st so if you’re around and would like to ask him about his work please do.
