Valiant work

New raised bedsGo Local Food has a couch grass problem in the area where the onions have been grown this year.

William, one of our work shares (he who built the raised beds by the poly tunnels earlier in the year on one of the all hands Saturdays with another volunteer), said he is willing to undertake some strenuous digging to see if he can make a dent in the amount of couch grass in this year’s onion bed. This is manual digging with a trusty fork you realise.

Ian our grower says that what he thinks is ten square feet has produced four barrow loads of the offending couch grass. Yes that suggests that there is a serious problem in what has been this year’s onion bed. Anyone who wants to help William clearing out this infestation will be most welcome to come along and join in using a fork.
