The autumn equinox

rodentIt must be getting cooler at night with the autumn equinox having passed on Friday, 22 September at 21:02. The local rodents at the Go Local Food fields have decided that the poly tunnel with the tomatoes in is a good place to hide from the outside overnight chill. So it’s back to the annual routine of regular inspections for ingress and action taken to keep the wild life out. We have nothing against rats and mice but they really don’t mix with crops being grown for food.

Ian, our grower, was coming down towards the fields from his home at Temperley followed by a buzzard. He remarked that it was unusual to see it being mobbed by crows in an attempt to drive it away at this time of the year.
