We are not the only community led growing scheme in the north east. Another scheme visited by the author Walter Lewis in his travels is the Gibside Community Farm just outside Rowlands Gill. This really is a volunteer led scheme as all the work is done free by the members, even down to restoring a little grey Ferguson tractor. They have access to a little more space than does Go Local Food due to being on National Trust land which has allowed them to plant an orchard and to sell at markets as well as supplying the members! Lucky them.
