Wildlife on wings

fieldfareThe fieldfares are back in the area – it’s October and the flocks have come back to spend the winter in the UK. Don’t mistake them for the mistle thrush.

A buzzard was spotted over the Go Local Food fields on one of the recent windy days. It was flapping hard against the wind, trying to find a thermal to use to rise in.

There’s a kestrel around too – well in the field next door to Go Local Food. As kestrels feed on rats and mice it must be that food is more plentiful next door than we have for the moment.
