Go Local Food doesn’t believe in food waste – we know that beetroot tops can be used as spinach, that radish leaves can be eater raw or cooked like spinach, that parsley roots are like parsnips …. So it’s good to see the independent chain of East Anglia Co-op stores selling dried goods and cans for 10p after the best before dates rather than treat them as waste. It’s an interesting article to read right through to see how other supermarket chains deal with such goods and to see what the law says about fresh goods. Seems that there is more awareness of food waste growing.
