New Year – new plans for our Growing Gang

child gardeningFollowing the success of last year’s experiment which was supported with small grant from Lottery, we are continuing and expanding activities for children and young people.  The Growing Gang is obviously a central feature!

A group of parents and volunteers have devised a fantastic programme for the coming year, starting on Saturday 24th February, monthly (last Saturday of each month), 10 – 12.00 midday.  Same routine, each child is asked to be ready to get mucky, bring wellies, warm clothes, and an adult!  We are planning 2 short activities per session, focussed around the Growing Gangs own space which this year (hopefully) will have raised beds installed.  Growing more potatoes, beans!! and other crops, wildlife spotting and of course the annual scarecrow competition are all in the mix. We’ll be posting a copy of the timetable in the Palace.

If you know any children and families who might be interested do invite them along to a session to check us out.

This year we are asking parents/carers to sign up as members of GO Local Food.  The annual membership fee and support of families will help us continue to develop activities for children and young people.  If you’d like more info, admin@golocalfood.org.uk
