Here’s hoping

plum tomatoesThe weather forecast for the present and the next few days has the prospect of cheering up all outdoor growers. For the first time in a long time the forecast is for warmth and sun which may well help to dry out the Go Local Food fields.

It’s been that cheerless that Ian our grower has taken to cracking bad jokes (the fields are that wet he thought he saw a couple of cormorants flying low looking for fish). Anyway – in the poly tunnels more lettuce and beetroot have been planted. The pak choi in the middle poly tunnel has been lifted to make space for tomatoes. Now there’s the sound of summer. And the radish bed has been turned over ready for more chard or lettuce.

Meanwhile Ian is technically on annual leave as a shepherd but you should avoid asking him about how things are going as problems there are with lack of grass and hay.
