It’s the season to be planting squashes at Go Local Food: Hunter butternut squash, spaghetti squash, Uchiki Kiri Squash which did well last year and kept well, Courgette Brilliant and a packet of white donated pumpkins – Ian didn’t have the packet to hand when I spoke to him so this is a brand with no name at the moment.
Also it’s the time of year for planting French beans, runner beans and Borlotti beans as well as peas – these last to be sown outside in a specially prepared trench.
This means that Ian has to get ahead with ground preparation and membrane laying so that the work shares can get down to the planting out.
