It’s been a good year for …

comfreyAt Go Local Food we have had a good year for some things:

  • Downy mildew which starts off on the comfrey (of which we have a lot) and spreads to other susceptible growth such as courgettes
  • Docks which haven’t been sturdy and strong but which have been plentiful and with lots of seeds
  • And now thistle seeds – Ian the grower has the flame gun out every other day to try and control the number and spread
  • Onion white rot which once you have it in your soil is almost impossible to eradicate – luckily so far we have escaped this problem

We really didn’t want any of the first three but we have them all.
