One week there were 70 sweetcorn nicely ripening – we decided it would be good to leave for one more week… when we looked again, 40 of the lovely cobs had been eaten… ! We guess that farmers clearing and ploughing their fields around us have encouraged various pests to head for the greener and juicer food on our fields. Another of our seasonal challenges.

If any consolation, it may have been badgers, they love sweet corn. Need to drop an electric fence round smaller acreages to prevent them.
Doubt it mind as that’s one wildlife visitor that has never been recorded on the Go Local Food fields in my reporting time of some years.
