Once a month we ask our members to give an hour or so to help out with jobs that we need to catch up with. Two jobs are down for this weekend. One is to lift strawberry plants to be put into hanging baskets and also to pot up some of the runners. The plan is to pick strawberries from the hanging baskets next year and to plant runners in a raised bed made of pallet racks. The strawberry plants in the hanging baskets will give the main crop next year and the raised bed will take over the year after – you know that you shouldn’t pick strawberries from plants the first year don’t you?
The other job will be to help put together more of the new small poly tunnel that is being placed where the old dome used to be. It’s taken time to raise the money to make this happen.
