End of November 2018

Small poly tunnelAlthough it’s nearing the end of November and rain is plentiful, outside work still has to be done on the Go Local Food fields. Eventually all the winter garlic is in the prepared beds and seedling onions are due to be planted in the outside world. Both crops need winter cold as part of their growing season. Work also continues on creating the next no dig beds to be used next year – these are part of the trial for which we have received funding.

The membrane for the small poly tunnel is on order and all that is required, after it is delivered, is a warmer day so that it can be added to the prepared frame.

The wild life is trying to find warm homes for the winter – the poly tunnels are the usual first port of call. So work shares and grower are taking appropriate deterrent actions.
