Go Local Food work shares have managed to get some preparations for 2019 completed even though it is December.
The earliest of early broad beans are sown in cells on a hanging shelf in one of the poly tunnels. These should be safe from rodents of all varieties and should be able to get a head start for planting out as soon as possible come the 2019 growing season when the ground is warmer.
Onion sets have also been planted in tubs in one of the poly tunnels to get a head start for spring.
Ian our grower did take out the potato lifter on Wednesday as he threatened last week. The ground was sodden so it’s possible that not everything was lifted. A dry spell is needed there before further work can be done.
