International Carrot Day

carrotsA commonly used and well known vegetable in the UK is the carrot. Certainly one that we should celebrate. I met the orange carrot when doing A level history – it had nothing to do with the facts we needed for the exam but was introduced as an aside when William of Orange and his wife Mary took the throne of the UK and bought with them the orange carrot – apparently not the colour that was usually associated here at the time.
